Saving Lives!

Volunteers are needed!  Wise County has implemented a plan in conjunction with the Cities Readiness Initiative (CRI) to save lives should we be faced with a catastrophic bio-terrorism event. As part of a state mandate in emergency preparedness, POD sites (point of dispensing) have been selected throughout the county for dispensing medication, staffed with volunteers. The goal is to be able to medicate a large number of people in a short period of time.

Volunteer Qualifications:

bullet

must be 18 or older

bullet

no felony convictions

bullet

able to work a 12 – hour shift

Two 12-hr shifts have to be staffed, 25% of which need some medical training. Should the POD sites be activated, you become a first responder which means that you and your family will get meds first. The time commitment is minimal while the number of lives saved is great. This is not a one-person endeavor, but rather a concert of community participation for the health and well being of the citizens of the county in case of a catastrophic event.

Wise County needs your help! Volunteer now!
